ACFA history
The Annual Conference on Finance and Accounting (ACFA), organised by the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at the Prague University of Economics and Business, has been a cornerstone of academic exchange since its inception in 2000.
Initially designed as an internal platform for the Faculty’s PhD students to present and refine their research, the conference has evolved significantly over the years. In 2009, with its 10th edition, ACFA expanded its reach to include PhD students from other universities, including international participants. By 2016, the conference opened its doors to researchers from across the globe, encompassing a wide range of topics in accounting, finance, and economic education.
Despite its broader scope, ACFA remains deeply committed to supporting emerging scholars and PhD students. This commitment is reflected in reduced registration fees for PhD students and the delivery of detailed feedback on their papers, ensuring a nurturing and collaborative environment for academic growth.
Exciting developments are your to come! Starting with the 2025 edition, we are proud to announce that ACFA will be jointly organised by three leading business schools from Central and Eastern Europe: the Prague University of Economics and Business, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, and the Krakow University of Economics.
This collaboration will take place under the umbrella of the Eastern European Group for Accounting Research (EEGAR), an informal platform which objective is to further enhance the conference’s international profile and foster deeper regional cooperation in the fields of accounting.
Join us at ACFA to exchange ideas, explore groundbreaking research, and connect with a vibrant community of scholars.
